addendum Nov 12

There are things I forgot to put in.  Mea culpa.

I did get other phone calls and emails.  Thanks!  Nicola also bought me a bottle of Woodford Reserve bourbon from a trip she and Wes took to Kentucky.

The worst outcome from the Tuesday election was the failure of the Hinsdale School District 86's referendum for a $160 million bond issue to be paid over 20 years.  Hinsdale Central is over 50 years old, and really needs a lot of work, including a new pool - - and separate male and female locker rooms, as well as upgrades to the library, etc etc.  Of course, there are a bunch of obstructionists in town, either Fox news addicts, retirees, or people with their kids in private schools. I don't know why anyone would move to Hinsdale and not expect to pay a lot for the public school system - - and in fact, our millage is apparently lower that a lot of the neighboring communities.  The NO voters had no real plan, other than opposition to a ~$500 annual tax increase.  These problems are not going to go away, and there will be another proposal (for instance, they claimed, without any background,  they could fix the pool for $2 million....), probably not much cheaper, in the upcoming years.  We will probably have moved out by then
